On April 27th-28th, 2007 the California Holstein Association hosted its annual Black and White Show at Merced County Fairgrounds. The California Holstein Association also invited Jerseys to come to the first ever California Spring Jersey Show, which showed to be a huge success.
The first day of showing started on April 27th with heifers, bulls, and dry cows. To start of the day, Den-K Sstorm T Matix exhibited by Nisa Gallichio was named Champion Bull of the Junior Show, followed by the heifer show. The heifer show was full of excitement and awarded Junior Champion of the Junior Show to Den-K Champion Musical exhibited by Antonio Martinez and Reserve Junior Champion of the Junior Show to La-Foster Durham Lita exhibited by Rocco Cunningham. The juniors also got together for a meeting to discuss Cow Camp in Chico, the CJHA State Fair Booth, and talked about unfinished business.
On April 28th, the show resumed with quality cows exhibited by the juniors. The day started by naming Lazy-A Dundee Susann exhibited by Rocco Cunningham, Intermediate Champion, and Reserve Intermediate Champion to Ropies Brant Gracie exhibited by Nisa Gallichio. The Senior Champion went to Shepherd Farms Aero Ruby exhibited by Collin Abraham and Reserve Senior Champion went to Alver-Acres Carlton April exhibited by Gavin Abraham. The Junior Cow Show finally came to an end with Shepherd Farms Aero Ruby exhibited by Collin Abraham, being named Grand Champion and Lazy-A Dundee Susann exhibited by Rocco Cunningham, being named Reserve Grand Champion. Rocco Cunningham was also awarded with being the Premier Junior Exhibitor and Raeanne Quaresma was awarded the Premier Junior Breeder.
Besides nice quality cows, the juniors also brought high quality showing and fitting in their showmanship classes. The Junior Showmanship Contest winner was Amanda Moretti and the Advanced Fitting and Showing Contest winner was Collin Abraham. In addition, the California Junior Holstein Association also put on a Silent Auction to raise money for the Junior Dairy Bowl and Dairy Jeopardy teams and for the Junior Association. The juniors would like to give a big thank you to all the people who sponsored our silent auction, by either donating or purchasing an item.
