This past Friday I left the snow of Minnesota and headed south to enjoy spring and a great herd of cows and people at the Rock-Home Dispersal Sale in Hillsboro, KS. Located about 1 hour north of Wichita and 2.5 hours west of Kansas City, Rock-Home Holsteins is the home of the Winter Family.

In his greeting at the beginning of the catalog and of the sale, Dallas Burton referred to three generations of “cowmen” breeding represented in the herd - Chester Unruh, Warren Winter and Kevin Winter. I couldnt begin to highlight all the well-known families they have worked with and developed, but a few of the current key members of the herd can do the talking for me.
