It was a beautiful day in East Montpelier, Vermont, for the Lure of Lylehaven, which took place between the famed yellow barns of Lylehaven.

One of the queen’s of the barn – Thiersant Lili Starbuck, 4E-94. She is the granddam of “Lila Z” and many of the consignments traced backed to her, including two of the top three sellers. The high seller was the first choice of five Sanchez pregnancies from Calbrett Shottle Lisamaree VG-87-2y-CAN, the 2nd dam is Lylehaven Lila Z EX-91-CAN, then Form Laura 3E-94, then Lili. The pick was purchased for $30,000 by Lylehaven.

Western Spring National Heritage Sale Report!

The Western Spring National Heritage Sale was held on Thursday evening, May 14th in conjunction with the Western Spring National Show in Richmond, UT. The sale averaged $3156 on 38 lots when the final gavel came down.

High seller at $10,000 was Lot #1 in the catalog- a 1st choice Jasper female that was guaranteed to be red from the the only known red Shottle daughter – Vande Shottle Lottery-Red. Consigned by the Lottery Syndicate of Waupun, WI, this consignment was purchased by Harris Dairyland of Richmond, UT.

Harris Dairyland also cast the final bid at $9,200 on the 2nd high seller – a 1st choice Goldwyn female due 9/09 from Willona RM Dreamboat-Red (EX-93). Dreamboat is a 5th generation EX and already has an EX-91 daughter as well as two red heifers that are doing quite well in the showring this year. This choice was consigned by Virgil Kronberg of Hilmar, CA.

Third high at $5,700 was a consignment from Morsan Farms, Ltd of Ponoka, AB – Morsan Jasp Deannah-ET, a 12/08 Jasper daughter out of Continental Leduc Deannah (EX-94-2E-CAN). Earlier in the day, she won the Winter Calf class at the Western Spring National Show and she was purchased by Leo & Chris Durrer and Frank & Diane Borba, all of Modesto, CA.

Five Jersey lots also sold in the sale and two tied for the high-selling title at $5,100: DC Comerica Sweet Pea-ET, a 3/08 Comerica from the All-Canadian Crondall Rens Sweetheart (EX-95%), was consigned by Nicholas Kipp and Nate Chugg of Ogden, UT and was purchased by Triple Crown Jerseys. Also consigned by Kipp and Chugg was NKipps Sparkler Veryfine, a 12/08 Sparkler daughter out of Wintergreen Paramount Victress (EX-93%) that was purchased by Gina Fisher and Keith Kove.

Lot 11 in the sale is Eskdale Sept Charity-Red-ET, a three-year-old September Storm daughter that just recently scored VG-87 EX-MS. She is a 9th generation VG or EX.

Lot 27 is a 5/08 Goldwyn daughter out of an EX-92 Jolt with records to 29,000M.

Jersey consignments include lot 36 – a 12/08 Sparkler out of an EX-93% Paramount dam.

Morsan Farms Ltd made the trip from Alberta with a nice string that includes two sale consignments. Lot 3 turned heads this morning when she won the Winter Calf class. She is a 12/08 Jasper out of 2E-94-CAN Continental Leduc Deannah and her next dam is a 4E-93-CAN Starbuck.

Next to her is lot 15 – a 6/08 Calypso out of and EX Durham with sons in AI that traces to the Bootpeg family.

This *RC Talent winter calf is from the Supreme Champion herself, Thrulane James Rose 2E-97 CAN! A full sister sold earlier this year for $44,000 and choice of Goldwyn maternal sisters sold for $42,200. In addition to her many wins last year, Rose has started off 2009 with a bang as she was the Grand Supreme Champion of the 2009 Expo-Printemps Holstein Quebec Spring Show.

Former Holstein World staff member and Backus Catalog whiz Jenn Larrabee and her husband, Bryan, are the proud new parents of Mason Jay! Mason was born yesterday at 5:40pm, is 6lbs. 12 oz. and 20 inches long. Congratulations Jenn & Bryan!
