Maryland State Fair Holstein Open Show

TIMONIUM, MD-Savage-Leigh Holsteins, the Savage Family of Knoxville exhibited the grand champion female of the Holstein show held at the Maryland State Fair on September 4th. The 3-year old futurity winner from the previous night, Greenwood Acres Dun Celeste, is sired by Dundee and out of Greenwood Acres Elan Marisa. “I really enjoy judging in Maryland,” commented Judge Tim Abbott of Fairfield, Vermont. “The futurity winner competed against an exciting class filled with exceptional animals, which gives her my vote for grand champion today.” Winning the reserve grand champion title was the second placed futurity cow, a 3-year old exhibited by My Lady’s Manor Farm, Robert and Mary Smith of Monkton, MS Durchan Lady Allana-ET. The Smith Family also exhibited the Maryland Best Bred and Owned winner, a 4-year old, Ladys-Manor Allen Debbe.
MD-Hillbrook, Chris and Jennifer Hill of Thurmont presented the junior champion heifer, a fall yearling sired by Durham, MS Elmvue Durham Kenya-ET. A spring yearling, Kingsmill Ashlyn Audrey-ET, exhibited by Ehrhardt Farms, Inc. of Baldwin was named the reserve junior champion female. Honorable mention honors were given to the first place winter calf, Spungold-MF Laramie Rae, exhibited by MD-Hillbrook of Thurmont. The Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor banners were awarded to Savage-Leigh Holsteins of Knoxville.
