JK-Stranshome Luau Sale Highlights!
The tropical theme dominated in Owatonna, MN as a large crowd gathered at Stranshome Holsteins for the JK-Stranshome Luau Sale on Friday, June 25th! The sale featured individuals from the Elegance, Renita, Maui, Paradise, Roxy, Tony Beauty, Ashlyn and Della cow families as well as many guest consignments from friends of the Stranskys and Kietzmans. The high type individuals were well appreciated as the sale averaged $4,736 on 101 lots.
The last animal through the ring garnered the highest price on the day at $17,300. Stranshome Gold Absolute-ET, a growthy, fancy, full-age summer yearling out of an EX-93 Aspen dam, was in high demand and MilkSource Genetics of Kaukauna, WI claimed her with the final bid.

A pair of striking winter calves – one red & white and one black & white – took the ring at the same time and drew spirited bidding from the crowd. Lot 73 – Strans-Jen-D Adv Raquel-Red, the winning winter calf at the Midwest Spring National R&W Show – is out of a VG-86 Talent dam then five more VG & EX dams going all the way back to C Continental Scarlet-Red EX-95 3E GMD. Consigned by Stransky, Rottinghaus and Woods, Anika was purchased by Jeff Woods, WI.

Anika’s red maternal sister by Advent followed right behind bringing $15,000 from Eastside Holsteins, PEI. The crew that made the Luau!

The tropical theme was carried throughout – blue shirts for the sales staff and here are Pat Conroy, Joel Phoenix and Matt Sloan sporting the red shirts for the fitting crew.
A sizeable part of the crowd then traveled three miles down the road for the Choice Sale and Dinner. 15 lots were sold and topping that sale at $39,500 was Lot N1 – a First Choice Female from two Goldwyn heifers due in December, 2010 out of Stadacona Outside Abel (VG-88-CAN) – making this a full sister to the All-American and All-Canadian Eastside Lewisdale Gold Missy (VG-89-CAN), who sold for $1.2 million in last fall’s Morsan Sale. Consigned by Eastside Holsteins and Lewisdale Holsteins of PEI, the choice was purchased by Sunnyvale Farms & T&L Cattle Co.
2nd high at $26,100 was a First Choice Female sired by Damion out of Rolling-Spring G Escence-ET (VG-89), the Grand Champion at the 2010 Midwest National Spring Show. Escence is a Goldwyn daughter of Budjon-JK Dur Esquisite-ET (EX-92) and is a potential 8th generation Excellent from the Elegance family. Consigned by Budjon Farms, Joel Kietzman and Charlie Bean, the choice was purchased by Jordan & Whitney Ebert of WI.

The crowd enjoyed dinner and cocktails during the sale and many stayed on for the dancing afterwards. The Stranskys and Kietzmans are renowned for their hospitality and the whole day only served to reinforce that reputation!

Dads in action! Joel Kietzman and Reid Stransky and assorted Kietzman and Stransky children prepare for the drawing – each buyer on the day was eligible to win a 5 day/ 4 night trip to Hawaii!

Several people took the dance floor and worked on their moves during the course of the evening – including Gretchen Taylor and Paul Trapp!
