Central WI Summer Event Sale Highlights!

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

The Central Wisconsin Summer Event Sale was held last night in Marathon, WI and while the evening may have been a bit soggy and cool, the prices certainly weren’t as the sale averaged $7285 on 73 full lots!

Hosted as always by Floyd & Lloyd Baumann of Twin-B Dairy, the sale is sponsored and managed by the Central Wisconsin Holstein Breeders with the selections made by Les Terpstra. This year’s event featured a number of very popular cow families and high genomic testing individuals.

Topping the sale at $41,000 was Lot #1 – the 1st choice Goldwyn female from three pregnancies due March, 2011 out of Pierstein Dundee Rosalyne (VG-87-2YR-CAN). Rosalyne’s dam is none other than Thrulane James Rose (EX-97-2E-CAN), the legendary show cow that has been Supreme Champion at both World Dairy Expo and the Royal Winter Fair. Rosalyne is a show winner in her own right having been 1st Junior 2-Year-Old and Best Udder at the Quebec Spring Show earlier this year. Consigned by Pierre Boulet, the choice was purchased by T & L Cattle Co and Crasdale Holsteins, Canada.

Kings-Emerling MOM Favor-ET, a 12/09 Man-O-Man out of VG-89 Honeycrest Shottle Faith-ET, tied for 2nd high seller on the evening as she sold for $30,500. Consigned by Luke Popp of Chilton, WI, Favor carries a +2128 GTPI and a GPA LPI of +3165. She sold with contracts from Semex and Alta and stems from the ‘Everything But Famous’ Kathyrn family that has had several successful bulls in AI. Jocelyn Roy placed the final bid to take home this potential 8th generation Very Good or Excellent.
CWSS Lot 31 1

Also selling for $30,500 was Lot 9 – a 1st choice female by a mutally agreeable sire out of L-L-M-Dairy J Stream Procky. A Jet Stream daughter out of a VG Die-Hard, Procky was fresh as the end of May and tested out at +2316 GTPI – making her the #1 GTPI Jet Stream daughter in the breed and also ranking her #1 in the breed for testing over Parent Average at +573. Her 2nd dam is a 2E-92 GMD DOM Rudolph with over 235,000M lifetime who has six VG daughters and sons in AI. Consigned by L-L-M Dairy of Ringle, WI, the choice was purchased by Lookout Holsteins & Marrita Holsteins of Canada and Argentina.

Another 1st choice female caught the eye of John Boschma of Colby, WI as he paid $30,000 for the privilege of picking the best of Observer or Domain heifers due from December, 2010 to March, 2011 out of Ralma Goldwyn Carmen-ET. Carmen is a Goldwyn daughter of the famous O-Man, Ralma Christmas Cookie-ET (VG-89), and carries a GTPI of +2265 as well as a +6.4PL. Her full brother is the popular AltaChairman bull. The choice was consigned by Floyd & Lloyd Baumann & Fred Lang of Marathon, WI.

A sale feature was Langs-Twin-B Princess-ET, an 11/09 Alexander daughter that tested out with a +2132 GTPI – ranking her as the #3 Alexander in the breed! Also consigned by Floyd & Lloyd Baumann & Fred Lang, Princess is out of a VG-86 Shottle, then EX-90 Ralma Finley C-F Chuckle, then the prolific brood cow, Ralma Christmas Fudge-ET (VG-88). At +3.37T, she sold contracted to Alta and with an embryo contract to Sexing Technologies of Navastota, TX for $29,000.
CWSS Lot 781 1

$28,000 was the winning bid from Eddie Sidel of New Jersey for Lot 4 – Markwell Million Calista-ET, an April, 2010 Million daughter with a +2226 GTPI. She is out of Ralma 14-Carat Gold-ET (VG-88), a Goldwyn daughter of Christmas Cookie, who has had every son enter AI. Calista was consigned by Markwell Holsteins of Lynden, WA and she sold contracted to Alta, Genex and Semex and also carried an embryo contract.
