Matriarchs of the Breed Sale Is Complete!
The Matriarchs of the Breed Sale at Me-Do Meadows took place Saturday, August 28th in Orfordville, WI. Managed by Burton & Associates, the sale had an absolutely gorgeous setting at the farm of Doug & Melanie Nifong and it was an absolutely stunner of a day in Wisconsin! After 93 full lots passed through the ring, the unofficial average was $4,628.
Not surprisingly, the top seller was the one that was making the phone ring all week: Lot 1 – R-Z Baxter Caramel (VG-88 88-MS) brought $100,000 once all the bids were in. She is a Baxter daughter of Ralma Goldwyn Carmel-ET (VG-89) and with a +2160 GTPI and +3.35T sold loaded with contracts for embyros and sons. Consigned by Robert Goldmann of New Albin, IA, Caramel is headed to her new owners in Quebec – Danny-Pierre Rondeau, Ferme Gillette and MaryClere Holsteins. Her 1/10 Million daughter with a +2123 GTPI brought $12,300 from Bill & Larry Clayton of Klassic Holsteins in Iowa and her 3/10 Sanchez with a +1968 GTPI was struck off at $6,200.

A First Choice female due in September by Atwood or Goldwyn out of the incomparable Quality-Ridge Stormi Hazel (2E-95) brought $16,600. All-American or HM All-American every year in milking form, Hazel is fresh again and all reports are that she looks great and ready to return to the colored shavings. Consigned by the Hazel Syndicate of Preston, CT, the choice was purchased by All-America Dairy in New York.
$14,400 was the winning bid for another individual that looks to make some noise in the show ring this fall. Whit-Hart Reannan-Red-ET, a 9/08 Rustler-Red out of an EX-92 Regiment dam, was nominated R&W last year as a fall calf. A potential 6th generation EX tracing back through an all-time favorite red cow, Stelbro Renita Ranger-Red (3E-94). Reannan was Junior Champion last week at the Massachusetts Holstein Show for her consignors Todd Whittier & Darcie Hartford and she caught the eye of some Californians as Leo & Chris Durrer, Frank & Diane Borba and Frank & Carol Borba partnered up to purchase her.

A first choice female from three Atwood females due December, 2010 out of 2E-95 MD-Maple-Dell Roy Image sold for $10,000. Image was Reserve All-American Junior 3-Year-Old in 2006 and is herself out of an EX-95 Encore dam. Consigned by the sale hosts, Me-Do Meadows, the choice was purchased by Jimmy Donkers of Branchton, ON.
