Hike-Em-Up Holsteins Complete Dispersal Results

The Hike-Em-Up Holsteins Complete Dispersal took place on Thursday, November 18th in Reedsville, PA. The beautiful herd owned by Bill and Sue Sellers averaged $1,648.85 on 100 full Holstein lots.

High seller for the day at $5600 was Lot 17 – Hike-Em-Up Rampage Eden-Red, a VG-88 VG-MS Rampage bred to Contender-Red x 2E-92 Ranger x 2 VG/EX dams. She was purchased by Tom Murphy of Monson, MA.

Second high seller was Lot 32 – Hike-Em-Up Champion Tulsa who sold for $4100. Tulsa is a VG-87 Champion out of an Adolph daughter of Hike-Em-Up Topaz (EX-91). She was struck off to Brian Zug of Peach Bottom, PA.

Buyers interested in Midwest genetics were focused on the Minnesota Fall Harvest Sale that took place Saturday, Nov. 20 in Hutchinson, MN. The online catalog was posted at www.mnholstein.com . At the end of the sale, 75 lots averaged $2087.

Nittany Lion Fall Classic Sale Results

The Nittany Lion Fall Classic Sale took place on Saturday, November 13th in University Park, PA. Managed by the PA Holstein Association and Penn State Dairy Club, the final sale average for 86 full lots was $2,341.

Topping the sale at $4200 was lot 14 – CC-Jordan Bolivia Star. A Bolivia daughter of an EX-91 Rubens x 12 generations VG/EX from the Sweet Family and due in May of 2011, she was consigned by the Chester county Syndicate with 100% of the proceeds going to the Jordan Umble Memorial Missions Fund! Sale of Stars from the Ring of Excellence

The 2010 edition of the Sale of Stars was held Thursday evening, November 11th, in the Ring of Excellence at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario. The sale management team of GLJ Inc. – Paul Greaves, Simon Lalande & Don Johnston – welcomed sale attendees and wished all bidders and buyers thanks for their attendance tonight and good luck. At the end of the night, the unofficial announced average would be an impressive $19,621.

First lot in the ring was Lot 71, Donelea Goldwyn Rose, a donation heifer from Gen-Cor. All net proceeds will be donated to 4-H. She is an 8/9/09 Goldwyn daughter from 7 generations of EX & VG dams and she sold for $7,200.

Greenlea Dispersal Highlights!

The Van Haven Sale Arena in Uxbridge, ON was the setting for the Greenlea Dispersal held Wednesday, November 10th. A nice crowd surveyed the beautiful lineup of red & white and black & white cattle that included many national show winners from 2010.

The sale was managed by Hanover Hill Sales & Marketing, Ltd and MD-Hillbrook and at the end of the day, the Greenlea live cattle averaged $8,410 and the average on everything was an impressive $7,991.

Lot 41 was first through the ring – MD-Valleyvue GW Carla-ET (VG-89-CAN), the Goldwyn daughter that was 1st Senior 3-Year-Old & Reserve Grand Champion at the Lindsay Exhibition Show this year. A 10th generation VG or EX from the Roxys, she sold for $21,000.

The first red & white hit the ring in Lot 3 – Greenlea Adv Cara-Red (VG-87), Grand Champion at the 2010 PA All-American Show and 2nd Senior 2-Year-Old at Expo. Her new owner, Declan Patten, hails from Australia and claimer her with a final bid of $56,000.

The excitement continued as Lot 5 – Sherona-Hill-I KKA Red Clover, the All-American R&W Spring Yearling in 2009 that was fresh in August, was the focus of spirited bidding. In the end, Morsan Farms of Ponoka, AB won out at $65,500 for the Advent granddaughter of Yursden Kite Caramac-Red (EX-92).
