Wisconsin Convention Futures Sale Averages $5,568!

A big crowd filled the room for the Wisconsin Convention Futures Sale held Friday night, February 18th in Beaver Dam, WI. Held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Holstein Convention, the Futures Sale achieved an average of $5,568 on 37 lots.

The sale was managed by the Wisconsin Holstein Association with assistance from Rick & Paula Bovre of the Great Northern and Tom Morris Ltd.

High seller on the evening at $20,000 was Lot #2 – a first choice female out of Ralma Baxter Cheerio (VG-85), a Baxter daughter out of Ralma Christmas Cookie-ET that carries a +2069 GTPI. The buyer has several female options to choose from:
- Langs-Twin-B Atwood Chanel, a May, 2010 Atwood (+2161 GTPI) that has embryo and bull contracts
- Five female pregnancies by Tom-Anna Mac 51-ET (+2124 GTPI) due July, 2011
- Five pregnancies by De-Su 521 Bookem-ET (+2330 GTPI) due September, 11
- Two transfers by Ladys-Manor Pl Shamrock-ET (+2450 GTPI) due November, 2011
Consigned by Floyd & Lloyd Baumann of Marathon, WI, the choice was purchaed by Edgewood Dairy/Laverne Lepak of Custer, WI.

Second-high at $16,000 was Lot #1 – a first choice female by Observer out of Ralma Goldwyn Carmel-ET (VG-89) GTPI +2033. Carmel is another daughter of Ralma Christmas Cookie and has made a number of high GTPI offspring. The choice will be selected from three females due in March, 2011. Golden Oaks Farm of Wauconda, IL was the final bidder for this consignment from Dr. Jeff Rugg of Stevens Point, WI.

Lot 21 – $13,500 – First choice female by Bookem, AltaIota, Jeeves Jives or Shamrock out of Larcrest Cambria-ETS (GTPI +2044 +3.62T). Cambria is the only Goldwyn daughter of Larcrest Cosmopolitan (VG-87 DOM +2139 GTPI) and has four full brothers in AI.

Lot 5 – $11,000 – First choice female by mutually agreeable sire out of Budjon-JK Fallen Embers (EX-92) for December, 2011 calves. Fallen Embers was nominated as a 4-year-old in both the All-American and All-Canadian contests in 2010 and was the Grand Champion at the Wisconsin Championship Show. She completes eight generations of Excellent cows from the Elegance family.
