Showcase at Virginia Tech Sale Averages $2,847!

The Showcase Sale at Virginia Tech took place in Blacksburg, VA at the Virginia Tech Dairy Complex on Saturday, October 29th and averaged $2,847 on 51 live lots and choices. High seller at $7,400 was Eastview Manoman Miel LL-ET, a 11/09 Man-O-Man (GTPI +2098) due in December to Aberlin out of Eastview Mtoto Mindy LL-ET (VG-86 DOM). Consigned by Eastview Farms of Beaverdam, VA, she was purchased by Flintville Holsteins of Lebanon, PA.

Second high seller at $5,500 was St-Jacobs Mpiece Ashley-ET, a 6/11 Morsan Masterpiece daughter of Tri-Day Ashlyn-ET (2E-96 GMD DOM). The final bidder was Bill Slade from Harmony, NC and Ashley was consigned by Tim Abbot of Fairfield, VT.

First choice of three Explode heifers consigned by David & Hannah Schillawski of Old Lyme, CT brought $5,100 good for the third high price on the day. The heifers are out of a Mac dam and their 2nd dam is Schilldale Gldwyn Brenna-ET (EX-90), a show-winning Goldwyn that is +3.44 on type. The choice was purchased by Pineland Farms of New Gloucester, ME.

‘Raising the Roof’ Sale Averages $2,798!

The ‘Raising the Roof’ Sale was held Saturday, October 29th in Plover, WI and averaged $2,798. Hosted by Bob and Christine Barden, the sale featured an extensive offering from their Rob-Cri herd as well as several guest consignments. A tornado in May, 2011 tore through their farm and a decision was made to rebuild and ‘raise the roof’ on a new barn to continue working with Registered Holsteins.

Topping the sale at $16,000 was the 2011 Wisconsin Holstein Futurity winner, Rob-Cri Stormatic Manitoba-ET (EX-90). Due in January with a Dundee heifer, Manitoba is out of an EX Skybuck and sold to Glenn Ubbelohde of Plymouth, WI.

Tied for second-high seller at $5,500 was Rob-Cri Rampage Fancy-Red (VG-87) who sold carrying a Destry female to Sellcrest Holsteins of Watertown, WI.

Rob-Cri Durham Topsecret-ET also brought $5,500. A full sister to Vangoh Durham Treasure (EX-95), who placed 3rd in the Aged Cow class at the 2011 International Holstein Show, Topsecret is a potential 7th generation Very Good or Excellent and was purchased by Uecker Farms of Forestville, WI.

Snow Doesn’t Stop SE PA Fall Harvest Sale

It was a cold, damp, snowy day for the Southeast PA Fall Harvest sale held on Saturday, October 29th in Lancaster, PA. Managed by Landis Marketing, the sale averaged $2042 on 78 Holstein lots. Included in the sale was a hand selected group from Cook Farm, Hadley, MA. The Holsteinsin this group averaged $3364 on 14 full live lots while the Jerseys averaged $1820 on 5 full live lots.

One of the Cook Farm consignments topped the sale at $5200. A big strong bred heifer,Cook Farm Planet Sky-O-ET sold due in December to FYI (+2037 GTPI Bolton son). Zach Fury, VT bid last to take home this potential 9th generation EX from the Fayvor family.

Cook-Farm Instant Fortune (VG-87) was the second highest seller of the day. Due in a few weeks to Fever, her dam is a VG-88 Outside x 5E-95 Flip Inez. She was struck off at $4000 to Kirby Horst, Newmanstown, PA. Todd Galton, Nunda, NY bid last at $3700 to take home Cook-Farm CS Feelgood (EX). This Stormatic daughter is a 7th generation EX and due next week to FYI. Her dam is a 3E-94 Rudolph x 3E-93 Blackstar back to 5E-95 Fayvor.

Legends of the Fall Sale Results

The cold and rainy weather didn’t keep a nice crowd from gathering at Coyne Farms in Avon, NY today for the Legends of the Fall Sale. It was the second consecutive year the sale was held at Coyne Farms and a large crowd enjoyed the open house and hospitality the night before. The sale was managed by Butler Fellers Auctions, Inc. and boasts a $19,475 average and $1,129,550 gross on 58 lots.

The top seller for the day at $125,000 was Lot 1 – Honeycrest Bwsr Glisten-ET, a 9/10 Bowser with +2410GTPI +1781M +63P +3.20UDC who sold with 4 Numero Uno pregnancies and 14 Epic transfers. Glisten is out of Honeycrest Bolton Gloss-ET (VG-86) GTPI +2087 x Honeycrest Oman Glitter-ET (VG-85 GMD-DOM) x 6 more VG or EX dams. She also sold with over $60,000 in embryo contracts. Lot 1 was consigned by Tim Rauen of Farley, IA.

The second high seller was struck off to Joe Price & Dennis Caudill at $100,000 was Lot 3 – KHW Super Aderyn-ET, a 9/10 *RC Super from the “Apple’s” who is the #1 GTPI Red Carrier in the Breed with +2328GTPI who sold with an Alchemy embryo package and is heavily contracted for sons and embryos. Aderyn’s dam is a VG-86 Goldwyn maternal sister to Apple followed by 6 more EX dams and the lot was consigned by Morningview Holsteins & John Schneller.

Third high seller of the day at $83,000 was Lot 2 – 1st choice guaranteed RED Alchemy Female from 3 females due early May 2012 and all IVF transfers from 11/4/11 recovery. Great Northern 30th Anniversary Sale Averages $3,531!

It’s been 30 years running the Great Northern for Rick and Paula Bovre and the sale today in Fond du Lac, WI marked the anniversary! A big crowd gathered at the sale arena on a gorgeous fall day to watch a beautiful lineup of cattle pass through the sale ring. At the end of the day, 80 live lots and choice averaged $3,531.

High seller on the day at $21,500 was Lot #1 – Ms Apples Annesa-ET *RC, a 3/11 Goldwyn daughter of the 2011 Grand International R&W Show Grand Champion, KHW Regiment Apple-Red-ET (EX-94 DOM). At +2128 GTPI, Annesa is +158 over parent average and has a +7.1PL! Apple is up for committee to move to EX-95 and has produced a number of sale toppers this year.

The Vision Gen & Partners Elite Offering sale was held on Friday, October 21st in Intercourse, PA and averaged $2,538 on 109 full lots.

Topping the sale was Lot 7- Even-Par Ross Z12445-ET (+2367 GTPI)- #1 Ross daughter- from an outcross pedigee. Her dam is a VG Planet x VG-87 Elegant x EX-91 Garter x EX-95 Zip. She sold with an embryo contract and A.I. interest. She was knocked off at $23,000 to the Ross Syndicate, Lebanon, PA, with R-E-W Farm contending.

The second high seller was Lot 2- Vision-Gen Obsrv J12924-ET (+2320 GTPI). She is 4.46 PTAT and +4.05 UDC. Her dam (pictured below) is a VG-87 Goldwyn x 2E-91 sister to Jeeves. Pen-Col Farm purchased her for $12,250.

Lot 1- Charlesdale Gwyn Jetta-ET (VG-87) went back to her breeder, Shawn Charles, PA for $7700. She due 11/2 to Freddie and is from a 2E-91 Allen sister to Jeeves. The next dam is a 3E-94 Duster, then VG-88 Ked Mark Justine, the dam of Juror.

Lot 15- Vision-Gen DE R12653-Red-ET (+2032 GTPI) was purchased by Spruce Haven Farm for $5300. She is a Destry x VG-85 Shottle x EX-94 Talent x EX-94 Rubn Ruby-Red
