Royal Windsor II Sale Preview and more!
In what could only be called a picture perfect day in central Maryland, Jason and Donna Myers and family opened their doors for a pre-sale meal and cattle viewing event tonight, sponsored by Select Sires. With temperatures in the low 80′s and blue skies above, everyone was ready for the big Maryland sales weekend to begin, which also includes March Madness, the tag sale hosted by Tom Mercuro and the tag sale hosted by Chip & Isha Savage.
To kick off the weekend, tomorrow’s Royal Windsor II will start promptly at 11:00am at the farm in New Windsor. The complete online sale catalog can be found at http://issuu.com/holsteinworld/docs/royal_windsor_ii_complete, while the latest updates can be found by clicking http://www.holsteinworld.com/uploads/updates031512.pdf.
Be sure to stay tuned to the AllBreeds Blog tomorrow as we’ll be bringing you highlights throughout the day.
Following are scenes from Windsor Manor taken just after all the cows had been milked.

Lot 26 – Windsor-Manor ZD Sugar – a VG-88 Sanchez from Windsor-Manor ZDaffy-ET (EX-90) and then Windsor-Manor Rud Zip (EX-95 4E GMD-DOM). A beautifully deep ribbed Sr. 2-year-old for 2012!

What a tremendous mammary system on Lot 1 (she wasn’t cooperating well for the side shot). Pictured here is Windsor-Manor Zsh Panda-ET, a VG-87 Planet from Windsor-Manor Z Shadow-ET (EX-92) and then Zip. Selling with over $75,000 in contracts, this +2144 GTPI Planet comes from 11 of 12 VG & EX dams.

The EX-92 Shottle dam of Lot #1. She was 1st runner-up in the 2011 Maryland Holstein Futurity and made over 26,000M in her 2-04 record.

Lot 14 – a fancy 9/11 Gillette Jordan from Windsor-Manor Z Ally-ET (VG-86). Ally, a daughter of Zip, will sell as Lot 13.

With about 80 lots to sell in the sale tomorrow, buyers can be sure to find a variety of high type Goldwyn and Shottle daughters, as well as daughters of some of the hottest genomic young sires.
It has been seven years since the first Royal Windsor Sale, and this year’s event looks to be just as successful. For more on the farm and its many members of the Zip family, visit their website at http://www.holsteinworld.com/windsor-manor/ .
