Norse Star Summer Hummer Averages $5,280!
The weather finally cooled off a bit in Wisconsin on Saturday, July 7th but the Norse Star Summer Hummer heated things up all day! Hosted by the Fremstad family of Norse Star Jerseys and managed by Andrew and Jen Vander Meulen of Avonlea Genetics, the lineup featured both high-type and high-genomic individuals. A big crowd gathered in Westby, WI to take in the sale and the bids kept coming from start to finish as 87 full lots averaged a remarkable $5,280!
High seller at $22,000 was Lot 5 – Shot of Nat Dominican Lady A-ET, a 5/12 Sunset Canyon Dominican the test with July numbers of +231 GJPI and +1.4 GPTAT. The bottom side of her pedigree also stems from Sunset Canyon as her Renegade dam is a potential 7th generation VG or EX from the Anthem family. Consigned by Natalie & Wade Kessenich of WI, Lady A was purchased by River Valley Jerseys of IL.

An EX-91 Sultan daughter was the 2nd high seller at $21,000. Ratliff Sultan Velvet was consigned by Michael Heath, Robert Yeoman and Scott Stanford. She was the winning senior 3-year-old at the 2012 Wisconsin Spring Show and now completes four generations of EX cows. Nic, Ben, Jeni & Andy Sauder placed the final bid on Velvet as she will join the River Valley herd in Illinois. Velvet’s 3/12 Verbatim pictured here with her mother sold for $3,000.
