The Western Canadian Classic is took place last weekend in Brandon, MB. The WCC was founded on the concept of hosting a competitive youth show paired with social functions to promote friendly interaction between the participants with ages ranging from 12 to 21, from the four western Canadian provinces; Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

The first WCC was held in 1985 in Saskatoon, Saskathcewan, consisting of three showmanship classes, three calf confirmation classes, judging and pedigree competition, best of three, and stall competition. Over the years the show has grown to three showmanship classes, seven confirmation classes, judging and pedigree competitions, best of three, stall competition, clipping contest, Premier Province Competition and dairy sciecne quiz.

Judges for this year’s event were John werry and Pete Coleman. John Werry was the showmanship judge and hails from Oshawa, ON and farms with his father and uncle and Loa-De-Mede Farms, milking 75 head of Holsteins. Pete Coleman of Brantford, ON farms with his father and brother at Brideview Holsteins where they milk 70 Holsteins and 15 Jerseys.
