The 2012 Showcase Sale at Virginia Tech was held on Saturday, October 20 at the Virginia Tech Dairy Center in Blacksburg, Virginia. Co-managed by the Dairy Club at Virginia Tech and MD-Hillbrook/Chris Hill they had 63 live lots, 7 embryo lots, and one choice lot. The average on live lots was $1,980 and with embryos and the choice lot was $1,970.

The high seller of the day was lot 11, a February 2011 Soto daughter out of six generations of VG or EX. She sold with contract interest to ABS on the McCutchen pregnancy she was carrying. She sold for $4,200 to Bob Puskas of New Jersey and was consigned by Eastview Farm c/o Matt Nuckols of Beaverdam, Virginia.

The second high seller of the day was lot 1, a December 2011 Atwood daughter out of the one and only Ashlyn! She sold for $3,550 to Buttke Dairy Enterprises of North Carolina and was consigned by St. Jacobs ABC Inc. c/o Tim Abbott of Fairfield, Vermont.

The high selling embryos sold for $510/embryo and were five #1 Hero embryos out of an Excellent Goldwyn backed by nine more generations of VG or EX, including the second dam Idee Lustre-ET EX-95. They were consigned by Conant Acres, Inc. of Canton, Maine and purchased by St. Jacobs ABS Inc. c/o Tim Abbott of Fairfield, Vermont.

Buyers included those from North Carolina to Vermont. High volume buyer of the day was David Kohl from Virginia, who purchased nine lots. The Dairy Club at Virginia Tech and the Showcase Sale committee thank consignors, buyers, sales staff, advisers, and students along with anyone else who helped to make this sale a successful one. As a club, they hope to continue working hard to put on an even better Showcase Sale in 2013!
