Up first at the All-Breeds Luncheon is the New York Jersey Association. After a welcome from the leadership several awards, national statistics of the breed, and youth membership activities were presented.
Stacey and Becky Ferry New York Jersey Youth were honor at the National Jersey Youth Conference in Texas this past year. Three NY Juniors (Cassey Porter,Emily Chittenden, Meagan Chittenden) represented the NY association at the Jersey Youth Academy at The Ohio State University. Thirty Jersey Youth, ages 16-23 spent an all-expense paid week at the youth academy and toured local farms, including the Select Sires facilities.
National Jersey registration was announced and it continues to grow year over year. 112,265 Jerseys were registered this year breaking last years record of 103,345. Domestic sales also set new records at $2,532,855 in 2013. The Jersey Journal the only magazine for just Jersey cattle was discussed and stated they had a record setting year of 1,148 printed pages in 2013, up 6% from 2012. A virtual farm tour was shown from US Jersey that was from the 2013 World Dairy Expo 2013. It was of the Dutch Hollow Farm of Schodack Landing, NY
A painting was donated by Bonnie,Carrie, and Dean Sharp and resold in memory of Robin Denniston-Keller for $3,400 Dutch Hollow Farm to create a scholarship.
New York Brown Swiss Association presented it’s All-New York Awards. It was also mentioned that are more All-American Brown Swiss winners from New York than any other state in the union this year.
