Holiday Harvest Futures Sale Highlights!

The Holiday Harvest Futures Sale reaped impressive prices tonight in East Lansing, MI. The sale averaged $6,450 on 22 lots for a gross of $148,150.

High seller for the night was Lot T at $13,500. First choice Numero Uno’s or MAS from Neu-Way Bolton Allie-ET VG-87 GTPI +2161 and +100F. Next dam is Golden-Oaks Oman Allie-ET VG-85 and then former #1 CTPI cow of the breed, Neu-Way Patron Allie-ET VG-87 GMD DOM. She was sold to Oakfield Corners Dairy of Oakfield, NY.

Second high seller for the night was Lot F $12,000. Buyer gets first choice of three females, two Bookem daughters from Coyne-Farms Million Edith-ET GTPI +2071, Ro-Co Bkm 6616 97F-ET GTPI +2318 and Ro-Co BK Juliette-TW-ET GTPI +2227, or a Robust daughter of UFM Dubs Sherae-ET GTPI+2129, Comyn-PBCD RB 296 105F= ET GTPI +2350 +817 NM$.

The Breeders Holiday Classic Sale took place on Thursday, December 15th in West Union, IA and averaged $9,685 on 94 full lots! The lineup had something for every section of the market and was managed by Butler-Fellers Auctions, Inc.

High seller at $160,000 was Lot #1 – Larcrest Comical-ET (GTPI +2546), a 3/11 Robust out of Larcrest Comet-ET (GP-84 GTPI +2226) who is the Planet daughter of Cosmopolitan. Comet is the breed’s #13 heifer on the 12/11 run. Consigned by Larcrest Holsteins of Albert Lea, MN, Comical was purchased by Elite Dairy Genomics LLC of Downers Grove, IL.

61 Lots averaged €7,300 (US$9,687)

Recognized as one of the top European sales in the Holstein Calendar, the Tulip sale once again proved a tremendous success. Attracting buyers from all over Europe, consignments sold to seven different countries, including Denmark, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Spain.

Topping the sale at €41,000 (US$54,412) was Lakeside Snowman Paya (GTPI +2396 PTAT +3.06) consigned by Dutch breeders Andre and Willeke van Vliet. Sired by the #1 TPI bull Flevo Genetics Snowman, and from the Golden Oaks Mark Prudence family, this calf typified a complete package: High genomics, great type and a world class pedigree. Loaded with bull and embryo contracts, she attracted fierce bidding before the hammer finally fell to Ponderosa Holsteins, Spain.

High seller Lakeside Snowman Paya with the Tulip Sales Team 2011

Selling at €19,000 (US$25,208) was Apina Isabella (GTPI +2407) the highest GTPI calf in the sale. Sired by Badger-Bluff Fanny Freddie and a daughter of the Gold-N-Oaks Arabell VG-88 2yr (one of the most heavily contracted Ramos daughters world-wide) Isabella is bred from 9 generations of VG or Excellent dams, she sold to Ven Dairy Holsteins, Netherlands.

Selling in absentee, but still creating great interest, Rieten Snowman Roza (GTPI +2332) sold to Sahara Holsteins in the UK. The only Snowman daughter of Rieten Roumare Roza VG-87 2yr, this calf carried numerous contracts, with a maternal line free from Goldwyn, Shottle and Goldwyn! She sold for €19,000 (US$25,208).

The exciting prospect of a 1st Choice De-Su Observer from one of the best Shottle daughters in Europe realised €18,800 (US$24,942) selling to C Lupschen, Germany. The dam Shottle Silver VG-87 2yr already has 10 sons in European A.I, with 3 Observer heifer calves to select from, the first calf tested already had a GTPI +2335, a PTAT+3.71 and nearly 2000kg Milk!

Selling at €18,000 (US$23,878) was the first lot through the ring, Lila VG-87 2yr (GTPI +2129)- a Baxter daughter of Comestar Goldwyn Lilac VG-89. Maternal sister to Genervations Lexor, Lila has already produced 25 Grade 1 embryos this lactation, all of which have been exported to the United States.

A Scientific SS Dusk calf from the reigning Reserve Red and White Champion Madison Champion-Wilstar-RS TLT Limited Red EX-94 created huge interest. A stunning Red show calf, from 10 generations VG or Excellent dams, she realised €12,800 (US$16,890) to German breeder Thomas Wiethege.

The annual Minnesota Fall Harvest Sale took place Saturday, November 19 in Hutchinson, MN. The sale averaged $2,551 on 75 full lots.

High seller for the day was Lot 3- $13,300. This Langs-Twin-B CR Cassino-ET daughter of Da-So-Burn Douglas Minte-ET (VG-88) and has a GTPI of 2297. This January outcross heifer sold with AI contracts to Oakfield Corners Dairy of Oakfield, NY.

2nd high seller was Lot 1- $13,000. Hendel Shmrk Blanch 3402-ET is Shamrock daughter of Hendel Bolivr Basil (VG-86) and sold to T-Spruce Farm of Richmond, MN.

Rounding out the top three was Lot 2-$9,500. Da-So-Burn Observ Brenna-ET GTPI+2253. She sold with AI contracts and strong embryo interste to T-Spruce Farm of Richmond, MN.

The high selling cow for the day was a consignment from David Hoese, Larest Damion Chessa VG-87. This Erbacres Damion daughter of Ranyridge Leduc Camelai (EX-90) sold for $4,700.

The Sale of Stars took place Thursday evening, November 10th at the Scotiabank Ring of Excellence at the Direct Energy Center in Toronto, ON. A huge crowd gathered to watch the elite lineup pass through the sale ring and when everything was totalled, 87 live and choice lots averaged $26,980.

Lot 40 – $170,000 MS Pride Goldwyn Invite (VG-87), a junior 2-year-old Goldwyn out of six generations of VG & EX cows back to Dellia. Invite sold with several AI contracts and is one of the highest DGV Goldwyn daughters in Canada at +2630.
